What is Inkless

Inkless is a collaborative campaign management, session-prep, and note-taking platform for tabletop RPG game masters, built so the whole table can use it too. Plan a session, pull up NPCs right when you need them, track your story arcs, and take notes together to remember your table's favorite moments.

Whether you homebrew a world or run a published module, Inkless fits how you prep.

Built for
  • D&D
  • Pathfinder
  • Daggerheart
  • Call of Cthulhu
  • Draw Steel
  • and any system you run
01 / 05·The setup

Save every NPC, place, and plot hook as it comes to you.

You don't have to know the whole story to open a campaign. Start filling the toolbox with your ideas, and you'll pull from it when you're ready.

Cards live in the toolbox until you need them. Pull them into session scenes when you're ready.

Have the NPC card ready before your table notices the pause.

02 / 05·The party

Invite your party. Build the characters together.

Invite your party and each player creates their character and walks through the Character Forge. Weigh in section by section, then seal it together.

Each section gets its own discussion thread. You and the player work the backstory together until both sides mark it ready, then it seals as canon.

Players write their backstory with you until it's ready, then you can reference it later.

03 / 05·The story

Plan your story, beat by beat.

An arc breaks your story into beats, structural prompts borrowed from screenwriting and adapted for the table. Each beat helps you brainstorm what could happen, then flex around the choices your players actually make.

Each beat's prompts ask questions for that moment, helping you shape your own vision until a loose idea becomes a beat you're satisfied with.

See the story so far, and where it is heading, all on one page.

04 / 05·Game night

Build the next session card by card, scene by scene.

Create the scenes you want to run and drop your cards into them. Define the goal and the stakes to stay focused. Mark the secrets only you should see. When the night starts, your whole plan is all on one page ready to go.

The page you plan on is the page you run from. No separate session doc to copy into and keep in sync.

Prep your next session in minutes by arranging cards you already wrote, instead of starting from a blank page.

05 / 05·At the table

Catch the table's best moments as they happen.

A shared page where the whole table takes notes together as you play. Tag the NPCs, Locations, and Items that come up, mark a note as a Quest or Combat to set it apart, and attach a file or even drop in a GIF when appropriate.

Tags and Note Types are completely customizable. Make a red "Monsters" tag with a skull icon, or a "Lore" note type with a blue background. You decide how to organize and style your notes, and the search finds them all.

Recap last session in seconds, and search can find any note from any session.

From a Google Doc to a connected campaign

Most GMs come to Inkless from a Google Doc or a Google Drive full of them. Here is what changes when notes, NPCs, and all your plans live in one connected place.

On AI

AI is one tool inside Inkless, not the product.

Use as much or as little as you want, including none at all. Inkless works the same whether you ever touch AI or not.

Opt-in Session Recap

Summarize a previous session in seconds.

Nothing runs on autopilot

Nothing is generated unless you ask. AI never fills things in or runs in the background.

Hand-made art

Every theme and image inside Inkless is made by real artists and photographers.
No AI imagery whatsoever.

Everything you write stays connected.

A player writes an NPC into their backstory, and he flows through the campaign from there, so nothing gets lost between games.

Frequently asked questions

Which game systems does Inkless support?

Inkless works with D&D 5e, Pathfinder, Daggerheart, Call of Cthulhu, Draw Steel, and other tabletop RPGs. It is system-agnostic, so it fits whatever game you run.

Is Inkless free?

Yes. You can run one campaign for free, forever, with no card required, including advanced search and your first story arc. A paid GM Pro plan ($5 per month or $50 per year) unlocks unlimited campaigns, up to 25 party members, image uploads, and campaign themes.

How is Inkless different from Google Docs or a wiki?

Google Docs holds your notes, but it does not link an NPC to the session you used them in or surface the right page when you sit down to prep. Inkless connects notes, NPCs, story arcs, and session plans so the right information is in front of you when you need it.

Can my players use Inkless too?

Yes. Inkless is built for the whole table. Share an invite link and your players join the campaign to write their backstories and take session notes alongside you. They see only what you choose to share, and secrets stay GM-only.

Do I need to build a wiki or set up a database?

No. There is no wiki to build and no spreadsheets to maintain. Start a campaign and add NPCs, places, and plot hooks as they come to you.

Can Inkless recap what happened last session?

Yes. Inkless can recap your last session in seconds, so you remember what happened even after weeks between games.

Does Inkless work on mobile?

Inkless runs in the browser on desktop, tablet, and phone, so you can prep at your desk and reference everything at the table.
